Pinch, Punch, and All That Fun
Pinch, Punch, first day of the month and all that jazz. The cosmic joke of getting someone’s attention with an April fool’s on top of that too. I have no pinches, no punches and no fun japes to throw at you. Only honesty and owning up.
I’ve been conspicuous in my absence. At least to me. You may or may not have noticed!
Lots has been happening, but most of it has been behind the scenes, or underground. I’ve been mimicking the season. Potent beginnings are now popping up through the earth (or into your inbox!). I started sending out The Monday Thought, having left a different world behind. I missed a week, and then another, because of a technical snaffu that got me all tangled up.
It turns out that two weeks, and certainly three, is enough to make me fall off a habit. So here I am five weeks later, pinch punching myself back into being in touch. Because I actually like it. In fact, I love it. So here I am, writing through the guilt, and the thoughts that you won’t even read this because I stopped being in touch. All the mind gremlins are being pinch-punched away.
Today’s thought is really that for you – what do you need to pinch-punch yourself back into, or indeed through?
Something nourishing, something good for you that you love doing that you’ve let go of. Because it’s so easy these days to let go of the things that really do serve us. Whether It’s looking after your body, doing your morning pages or journalling, going for a morning walk, writing all your social media posts in one hit every week or month…. You get the idea. Today, I’m encouraging you to pick back up one thing that you know serves you. It might not be easy, it might even be hard. It could be something you love or something that’s needed. But just because you let it go, doesn’t mean you can’t pick it up again.
Here’s my caveat. See if you can do it guilt free, pinch punching that bit away. If you can’t quite manage that, imagine this email is an envelope… open it up (hit reply), load the guilt words in here, and glue the flap down. Now hit reply, and I will duly read your guilt about whatever it is, without judgment and then go bury it in the ground so it can nourish something new to grow. You can now get on with your day and enjoy what you are picking back up. It’s the first of the month, after all – that’s ALWAYS a good day to re-start.
Enjoy the day!
